Instructor, Jason Anderson(left) is a senior member of the Roanoke Kung Fu Academy.
He has over 10 years experience in the martial arts. For the last five years Jason has received his instruction in the Wing Chun System from Sifu Walter “Herbie” Holland who traces his lineage in the Moy Yat family to Ip Man. For the last two years Jason has brought his practice to Floyd and has instructed members of the Wing Chun Club of Floyd in foundational Wing Chun principles.
Wing Chun is a system of Kung Fu from Southern China that focuses on linear and geometric principles, which enable the practitioner to overcome size and strength through relaxation of mind and body. Simultaneously, parts of the body largely ignored by more modern methods of exercise are strengthened through our unique horse stance and a focus on efficiency of movement.
With dedication to training, a practitioner can expect to see gains in strength, focus and self confidence.

Additional Information: There are no uniforms required for training- save for shoes. Traditional attire is a plain white t-shirt, black workout shorts/pants and it is strongly suggested that a pair of kung fu slippers be purchased online. They can be found quite cheaply (usually under $20) by a quick search and should be two sizes smaller than regular shoe size to ensure proper fit as they do stretch. A lot of our energy work is cultivated from a strong connection with the surface we’re training on and the shoes afford the practitioner a great amount of sensitivity.
